A Shining Light...

Standing tall in the sands of time
watching the sun rise and set each day;
Some vivid and some sublime 
each unique in their own way.

The winds sculpt me as I stand
for they are puzzled on what I do;
One simple purpose, nothing grand
relevant in this day and age too.

Shining light through the darkness 
guiding the way for those lost at sea;
Night after night 1 go about my business
I welcome all those who want to see.

I don’t judge, I don’t control
I only see people gone astray;
Guiding through the dark, poor lost souls
expecting nothing in return, come what may.

oh! How I wish I was a lighthouse
to help in the journey others embark;
For there can be no greater purpose
than shining a light to disperse the dark.
